Isla's 17 Month Update!

17 months!? When did this happen and how!? I can't believe how quick this year is going, as much as I'm enjoying watching Isla grow into a proper little toddler and learn new things, its also a very bittersweet moment. So where to start..

Isla now weighs 24lb 6oz which puts her in the 75th percentile for her age, she is mostly in 18-24 month clothing as the warmer weather is coming all of her summer clothes are in this size, so that they last the whole of summer. She is in 12-18 month pyjamas but they are getting tight on her so when we get back from holiday I am going to go through all of her clothes. She is wearing a size 4 shoe although one foot is a size 4 1/2 she comfortably wears a 4 and a size 4 1/2 in Clark's shoes. Her hair is growing slowly still, I can get it in a pony tail and bunches which looks so cute on her!

She is no longer having a bottle, she drinks her milk out of a sippy cup now, she has milk in the morning with her breakfast and again before bed (6oz) she has 3 meals a day and 1 snack at 3 pm to break up lunch and dinner. She has 1 nap a day which is only for an hour, sometimes 1 hour 30 minutes if I'm lucky. Her bedtime is at 7:30-7:45 and she sleeps through until 8am ish. She brushes her teeth in the morning and before bed, mummy's not allowed to do it, so I have to have a battle to give them a good scrub afterwards.

She is still going to swimming lessons, she is now in the next group up (18 month +) although all the kids are over 20 months so she is still really young in the group. She floats all by herself in the water, with her arm bands of course, she will float on her front and bring her back up and kick her legs, she has only just got confident enough to lay on her back by herself. But yet again mummy can't hold her in the water! She is such a independent little girl and its frustrating at times, I hope it gets easier soon! She starts gymnastics next month which I'm so looking forward to :) She can do a roly poly all by herself now, and she walks round on her tip toes a lot to, she also loves to climb and is generally a very active little girl, she is always up to something.

TANTRUMS... Oh my have they got a lot worse, I think I am definitely experiencing the terrible twos early. She has been having the worst tantrums ever, and even more in public which is extremely stressful to deal with. I can see a light at the end of the tunnel though, as she is starting to understand more she is getting a tiny bit better. Its such a hard age as she doesn't understand discipline and she can't really communicate at the moment. Which brings me on to my next update about Isla, she is now putting two words together, she's been doing this for the past 2 months now. She says 'bye Daddy' 'Ready Steady' 'My baby', she is not copying many words I ask her to say, I'm not concerned at the moment at all as she can say over 15 words, and I know one day she will just start talking and saying every word possible! She is definitely more advanced in the physical side and has been since a young age. The only animals she really knows is dog and rabbit, she also says woof woof when I say dog so she understands that's the noise it makes. Ive been struggling to get her to point to things in a book when I ask her to find them, so if anyone has any tips id really appreciate it!

She uses a pen in a pincer grip with her right hand most of the time, otherwise she just holds half way up the pen and scribbles that way. She also understands instructions I give her, like picking up her food off the floor after she's eaten and throws it in the bin, also if I ask her to bring something she will bring it to me. We are off to Egypt next month and I know she is going to absolutely love it with all the swimming pools and the splash parks. Her favourite toys are her baby, her pushchair, her kitchen and the slide at the park. That's all I can think of for now. Thanks for reading
