May has been a life changing month for us as we welcomed baby #2 into the world on the 2nd May, and I have to say that May has definitely been the best month for us and nothing will ever top it. So as you can see the month started off amazingly with the birth of Archie, then Perry had 2 weeks off work with us so that has been lovely, we had some lovely weather in that time so we made the most of it by trips to the seaside, picnics and building sand castles at the beach. We also got the news that our new home is ready to be moved into in June, so we are all really super excited about that.

Mummy & Me | May 2015

May has been a very exciting month over here at Mums Space, we welcomed our little boy Archie into the world on Saturday 2nd May! So this month is my first month of having a photo with my TWO children. You could say this month has been pretty easy, as you can imagine we have been taking a whole load of photos so I was actually rather spoilt for choice with picking the photos. I have picked a photo of me and both children together and then one each of them on their own with me.

This is one of the first ever pictures taken of me and both of my babies. I love how Isla and I are both looking down at Archie. Archie was only 4 days old here too. Looking at this photo makes me so incredibly proud, I cant believe I finally have my baby boy in my arms, and my beautiful little girl - how did I get so lucky?

My friend took this one of me and Archie, it was his first time at the beach, we had such a lovely day.

I know I look awful in this but I just love the way Isla is smiling, she really has warmed up to me now that she sees me with Archie, she likes to give me kisses and as I was taking photos of Archie I asked if she wanted one with Mummy and she got all excited!

Sudocrem Care & Protect Review

Having a almost 2 1/2 year old daughter and a new born baby boy I think its fair to say I have tried a fair share of nappy rash creams in my time of being a Mum, and I can say I have only ever really been impressed with 2 products, one of them being Sudocrem. This has been around for years, my mum used it on me and my brother, so when my daughter was born we bought the biggest tub of it, and if I'm honest we still haven't finished it! I was sent the new Sudocrem Care & Protect to try out on Archie my new born, and we first used it when he was 4 days old, I had a Pampers sample nappy and used it on him, I don't know why but Pampers nappies just seem to give my children rashes, so this was when I first got to try the cream.

My first impressions was I LOVE how its in a tube, it means its so much easier to use and carry around in your nappy bag instead of the tub, I also like that the lid is a one hand opening, so when your changing a nappy and holding babies legs in the air, you can use one hand to open and apply the cream to baby (it really is amazing what you can do with one hand once becoming a parent). The texture of the cream is really nice, it spreads on well but is quite thick at the same time, I really hope that makes sense ha! At the next nappy change the rash was barely visible, and there was some cream that was still there in his creases, so it was nice that it hadn't dried up and it still provided comfort and a barrier for some time.

We haven't been using it at every nappy change, we mostly use it after bath time, every now and again in his creases where the nappy sits, and of course when he starts getting a rash we will use it straight away again, it does say to use it at every nappy change but Archie being so young still we don't really need to at the moment. I have also used it on my toddler, she is still in nappies so can get a little sore, and recently she has cut her bottom fangs in so the teething has made her sore, again the cream done its job and helped clear it up, by the next day her rash was practically gone and she no longer told me she was sore when I changed her. I am so happy that Sudocrem have made another great product, its one of them things though, it might work for some and not others, it really is hit and miss with these sorts of things.

The cream has a triple action ointment that provides a protective barrier - this helps prevent external rubbing and irritants, we use it in Archie's creases and where the nappy sits. The cream conditions the skin - with Vitamin E and Pro Vitamin B5 it keeps the skin in good healthy condition, and lastly the cream provides a guard against infection - a protective layer guards against any infections, even at the next nappy change you can still see some cream that hasn't dried up, it really does stay in place and give comfort hours later. I would definitely re purchase this once we run out, I am going to get another one to keep in my nappy bag for on the go.

* I was sent this for the purpose of this review, but as always all opinions are my own.

Archie's 2 Week Update

Archie turned 2 weeks old on Saturday, his second week of life was less hectic than the first, so it was nice to spend some proper time all together as a family. We was discharged by the midwife on Tuesday, when she was here she weighed him and he was 8lb 3oz so only 1oz off his birth weight. Monday was his first full day on formula, he is on Cow & Gate, and seems to have adjusted well to it from the breast milk. He is definitely a hungry boy and likes his milk, on Friday we had the health visitor come over to meet us, she weighed him again and he was 8lb 9oz - so that's a 6oz gain from Tuesday, he is now also taking 5oz every 4 hours. He loves the bath, he is so calm and content in the water which is great as we are a huge water sport beach family. He will also be doing swimming lessons in a few weeks time just like we done with Isla, I cant wait to take him. He is no longer in newborn and up to 1 month vests and sleep suits, but clothes wise he is in up to 1 month and some 0-3 month stuff, the rest is huge on him. He is now 57cm long, he was 55cm at birth, his hair is also growing a lot more on the top and is going really light, I can see some blond starting to come through so I think he will definitely go light. His eyes are still blue and are also getting lighter, when he was born he had bloodshot eyes from the pressure of coming so quick, but that has almost all gone now which is good. He is staying awake a lot more now, up to 2 hours at one time which is nice, of a night time he is waking twice a night, and on a few occasions has only woken once which is amazing, he definitely seems to know when its time to sleep.

He is a really happy content baby, he's not keen on getting changed but I think every baby hates being changed, that is the only time he usually cries unless he is hungry and I'm taking too long to get a bottle to him. His newborn skin has almost completely peeled off, he was really dry when he was born and has been peeling since, but he only has a little bit left on his arms and legs. His belly button has started to go in, we had a couple of days when it was catching on his nappy and it bled but it seems all better now. He is a big dreamer, he cries, whimpers, shakes his legs, twitches, and taps his foot while sleeping - I'd love to know what he could possibly be dreaming about!? He has filled out so much now, he looks so different from when he was a few days old. I fall more and more in love with him everyday, and I am loving that he loves to be close by his Mummy, Isla is a major Daddy's girl so its nice that Archie likes to be by me, I don't feel so left out now hehe.

Siblings | May

On the 2nd May we welcomed our second baby into the world, little Archie. So this is the first month I am joining in with the siblings linky and I've been so looking forward to doing it ever since we found out we was expecting again. For me I was so excited to see what Archie would look like, would he look like Isla? When I held him in my arms I could see that he definitely looked like his Big Sister Isla, although now that the puffiness has gone down from his face he has his own look, but you can tell they are related. In some pictures of Isla you can really see Archie, and if he was dressed in pink you would say it was Isla. I love that they both look similar yet different in their own ways, I cant wait to watch him grow and see what he looks like, will he also go blond like Isla? Will he take after his dad and be a really chubby cute baby... I cant wait to see!

Archie is 2 weeks old now and in that time Isla has created such a bond with her baby brother. The first time she see him she was so excited shouting 'Baby!' And immediately wanting to hold him and look after him. She has done so well with accepting Archie, she adores him and loves him so much already, it's probably the most amazing thing to watch as parents, watching your first born love and care for another sibling, and watching their bond grow is truly the best thing ever. Although Archie is too young to pay attention to Isla he definitely knows when she is around, if he hears her laughing or crying he will look around for her, and he genuinely seems pretty happy and excited when she is making a fuss of him.

Isla always wants to hold Archie, it's so sweet she sits on the bed or sofa and grabs a pillow shouting 'c'mon' patting the pillow for me to lay the baby on it. She puts his little soft toys in his Moses basket when he is in it, she gives him his dummy back if he spits it out and is crying, she covers him up with a blanket, she loves stroking his hair and helping me with looking after him. I couldn't be more proud of her, and I'm so looking forward to watching them both grow together, as best friends.

Me & Mine: April 2015

April has been a funny month, we have done so much but it feels like it has been over in a flash, if im honest I thought we was going to be a family of four this month. But my due date was yesterday and I am still pregnant and of course we are now in May so April is officially our last month as a family of three. But at least I can say that Me & Mine May we WILL be a family of four and I will be holding a little tiny new born in our photos! This month we have been getting everything ready for little man, packing the hospital bags, enjoying quality time with Isla, me and Perry went on our first time in ages date (and last date for ages no doubt), and we have also been enjoying the lovely few days of good weather as well.

Mummy's April Highlights

- Lots of quality time with Isla, making memories before the babies arrival.
- The weather getting warmer.. finally.
- Wearing a maxi dress with bump, I was worried I wouldn't get to but I have now yay.
- Going on a date with Perry, we went to Nando's and then the cinema to see Fast & Furious 7, we haven't done anything like this in years!

Archie's 1 Week Update

Archie turned 1 week old yesterday, it's been a long tiring week, but so worth it. When the midwife came to see us on day 5 he weighed 7lb 11oz, so he has lost weight but this is completely normal. He was breast fed for 3 days, but because of my hormones and feelings we decided to put him on expressed milk in bottles, and now we are slowly weaning him gradually onto formula, for his benefit and also mine. With Isla I just stopped pumping and the pain was horrendous, so this time the midwife advised dropping a pumping session a day. He is on 6-7 4oz bottles a day around every 3-4 hours, he wakes twice in the night around midnight and again around 3-4am then sleeps until 7:30am so that's pretty good. When I was breast feeding I wasn't going to sleep until 5am and then up at 8am and I was exhausted, just by him having it in a bottle it means he has 4oz of breast milk and a nappy change, then back in his Moses basket to sleep in a hour!

Day 6 Archie lost his cord, so that means now we can give him a bath! His skin has been so dry and we had to put baby oil on him to help. I think we will bath him tomorrow which I'm looking forward to, I hope he likes the water. He is generally a really content baby, he hates nappy changes and getting dressed, I've also been peed on many many times already haha. He now has a dummy, we only use it to hold him off if we are still getting his feed ready and he starts crying, also to help get him off to sleep if he needs it.

His hair has already started getting lighter, it's a real light brown in colour in the light, Isla was born with black hair so I reckon he will go light as well. His eyes are blue and are also getting lighter, he has blood shot eyes from the pressure of being born a little too quickly, the midwife said this should go in a few weeks.

He has been out 4 times this week, once to the hospital for his hearing test which he passed, then on to Asda - we used one of them trolleys where you can put the car seat on and he slept the whole time. The second time we took him out it was raining really heavily, we got him registered and then went to Debenhams to change both of the kids and while we fed him we had a hot chocolate! Thursday we went for a walk, got chips and took Isla to the park, he slept the whole time in his carrycot and looked so cute. Yesterday we went to town and once again he was such a good boy. It takes us about 10 minutes to get out the car now, and set up the pushchair etc. We are gradually getting better and quicker at it though haha.

I think that's it for his first week of life, I've been a bit all over the place with adjusting to life now I'm a mum of 2. But I am slowly getting the hang of it now and starting to get use to it more.

Welcome Archie...

I never knew it could be possible to fall in love all over again, that my heart could possibly have enough room to fit another person in it. The moment you was born and I pulled you up out of the water on to my chest and you made your first cry, that was it.. instant love. You are the most perfect little boy, I can't believe that we made you, I can't stop staring at you and feeling so lucky to have such a beautiful little boy, we feel so blessed. We all love you so much our dear little Archie.

39 Weeks Pregnant With Baby #2

Week 39 has been a bit up and down, it started off with me having back contractions and we thought it may of turned into proper labour, but it ended up fizzling out to nothing although the next morning I did loose a huge bit of mucous plug and it had blood in it. Over the weekend I was feeling really crampy and not myself, we really felt like he was going to come, but then on Monday I had no signs of him coming anytime soon and its been the same all week. Monday I went for a long walk - over 4 miles to be exact but all it done was give me sore feet and my SPD was killing me afterwards. The rest of the week has been OK, I have been in a good mood and keeping positive - he has got to come out at some point and it will be soon.

I have been so thirsty this week, I always want a drink and I have been craving Sprite - its so refreshing and I have also been craving Tesco chocolate caramel shortbread slices! Just typing it is making my mouth water, and I might just have to run downstairs and grab a slice now. My back has been really hurting this week, its at the top around where your bra strap goes, I hate having back ache, id much rather have belly pains instead. Weeing has been a nightmare this week, although I only really struggle in the evenings, I'm not sure if I just notice it more because I'm back and fourth out of bed, but it really makes me fed up. I wake up in the night around 4-5 times and when I go its the tiniest amount! The evenings I find so hard, that's when I get really fed up and sad, especially now that its my due date today!

I had my midwife appointment yesterday at 39+6 and everything went well, my urine, blood pressure, babies heart beat was all perfect, I am now happy to report that my bump is measuring 39 which is good. She said that he is lower than he was 2 weeks ago so that's another good thing as well. I see her again next Thursday and she will be coming to the house for that appointment, she said she will do a sweep - but I am still undecided on if I want one or not. She said a induction will be booked for around day 12 of being over due, but obviously we are hoping it won't come to that. Hopefully this will be my last pregnancy update?

I have otherwise been in a good mood and still seem pretty happy to still be pregnant, so that's good. I just want him to come safely and healthily that's all that matters, for now we are just enjoying the last few moments as a family of 3 and spending quality time with Isla. We are so excited to meet him, I am so ready for labour I just want to get it over and done with and then enjoy newborn snuggles, we are still hoping for a water birth so I hope they have a room free when the time comes. He could even be born the same day as the new royal baby as well so that's exciting! If he was I would so take back all the moaning that I have been doing ha ha. For now I'm enjoying everyone being nice to me and being able to get away with just going and laying down when I want to - only when everyone is home though.

Today at 40 weeks, seems like he may be even lower now.

Quality Time With Isla

I have been planning special days and activities with Isla so we can get a bit of special bonding time before Baby #2 gets here, it can be easy to sometimes get into a routine and just do cleaning, washing, cooking etc and then you realise that you are not actually making any special time with your little ones. I know I'm a little guilty of this, but with the new baby coming any day now I thought I should really make the effort of getting some quality time in with Isla. I thought id share a few of the things we have been getting up to the past few weeks, I want to record these memories to remember some of the times we had before we are joined by Isla's Baby Brother. I wanted to make a note of some of the things we got up to so I can always remember them.

1) Isla's first time crabbing - Me and my friend took her down to the harbour and went crabbing! I remember coming here when I was young and doing the same, so it was really nice to take Isla.

2) Lots of eating out - this was her with her Ice cream factory treat for eating all her dinner at Pizza Hut.

3) Making cakes together - she was so excited about this, I got one of them Disney Princess cake kits and she loved it, she done such a good job at decorating them all!

4) Lots of walks - this time I let her bring her baby pram out with her and she thought it was the best thing ever.

5) Being spoilt - Mummy splurged and spoilt her best little girl, she loves playing with water and I know this will keep her so amused over the summer, it will also be something for her to do in the garden when we are at home, she can have a bit of independent play while I'm busy.

6) Lots of painting fun - we was both really pleased with how this one turned out.. yay for no Pinterest fail!

These are just a few of the things we have been getting up to, I have enjoyed these special moments so much, I cant believe soon our lives will change once again when the baby arrives, I'm nervous, excited, happy and worried all at the same time. I really want Isla to adjust to being a big sister well, I hope we can make it as easy and happy as we can for her. I will also continue some of these activities when the baby is sleeping so we can still share some special times, I must remember to do it and not just get into the rut of just doing housework, I need to make time for Isla and Mummy.
