Aldi Baby & Toddler Event | What I Picked Up

I was so unwell last Thursday so was unable to get down to my local store, instead I popped in over the weekend and luckily quite a lot of stock was left over for me to have a browse and pick up some items. If you want to see what I picked up at the last event then you can check that out here, this time I had a few things in mind that I wanted to get and was so glad when there was some left!

So the first thing I picked up was some Calpol as both the kids have had runny noses, high temps and also Archie is teething so its always good to have a spare bottle in the cupboard, and it was on offer at £2.29. I then see loads of Nuby bath toys, I am quite a fan of Nuby so had a look and decided to get Archie some car bath toys for his 1st Birthday that is coming up, and these were £3.99! Next I picked up a ear and forehead thermometer which is one of the things I really wanted to get, at only £8.99 I thought this was a bargain. Normally they are pretty expensive, but I didn't mind spending under £10 on one, and like I said both kids have been so unwell so this is going to make it so much easier to do their temps.

Siblings | April

I finally have my iMac back from being repaired! So now to catch up with some posts, I took a couple of photos for this but shortly after my iMac got sent off for repair so I was unable to do this in time, I really should be more organised!

So this month my two have changed so much, like something has totally made them click like never before. They are now almost inseparable, they are playing together - nicely, sharing toys, Isla is teaching Archie so much stuff and he loves watching her and copying. They have been such a joy to be around this past month, both laughing together, exploring outside in the garden and with Archie now so close to walking he is able to join in with pretty much everything. He can stand and play with the water table in the garden and they will both play with that for ages together.

I am so happy that they have changed, and I can see the best bond forming between them both, they just both like being together now, whereas before Isla was still a little independent and got annoyed when he would trash her toys, but they seem to have found some mutual ground and have been so well behaved together recently.

Aldi Baby & Toddler Event | 21st April

Mums and Dads! Its that time again, Aldi are having their baby and toddler event again this Thursday 21st April, so get down to your local store to grab some bargain deals, I know I will be! We are recently converted to Aldi for our weekly food shopping, and this is my second baby and toddler event that I will be heading too, last time I got a few goodies which you can read about here.

But don't worry if you don't have a local store close enough as you can actually order a lot of the stuff online in the specialbuy online launch this Thursday, and now for the first time you can order the jumbo box of nappies online too! But these are only for the specialbuy event and subject to availability so be quick as I am sure they will go fast! This will be so handy for me as well as I don't drive so have always been put off buying the boxes due to carrying them home, unless I'm with my partner in the car then we will buy them, and how could we not the prices are so reasonable.

Size 2 - £3.79
Size 3 - £5.79
Size 4 - £5.79
Size 4+ - £5.79
Size 5 - £5.79

You can also pick up the Mamia Organic Apple & Blackcurrant Juice (6 months +) for just 79p!
Mamia Organic Baby Pouches (Stage 1) for just 59p and the Mamia Organic Apple & Pear Fruit Pots for only 85p and that's for 4 pots too! Archie loves all of these and the pots are handy to keep in the cupboard at home for a snack or go towards his lunch, and I always carry a pouch in my changing bag too, you never know if your out longer than expected of if your baby suddenly gets hungry, they are great to keep as a back up.

I'm looking forward to seeing what I can pick up in my local store this Thursday, and again I will share what I picked up like I did last time. Let me know if you will be heading down to Aldi this week, or even take advantage of the online event and for the first time order the jumbo boxes of nappies!

We needed to go out and put Isla's new waterproof over trousers to the test, so we took her to her happy place, the beach. She loved exploring out on the sand banks, picking up sea weed saying look Mummy it's hair! She also looks in the pools of water searching for Ariel, its so sweet. It was lovely sitting back and watching her play and the amazement in her eyes when she would find a oyster, or funny shaped stone. There is just something so special watching your children play and enjoy the same place you did as a child. I spent all my time on this beach growing up, and now I get to share it with my children - its just the best thing in the world and I hope Isla and Archie will do the same with their children!

^ I love this photo, I need to frame it for my kitchen!

Me & Mine | March

March has been a odd one for us, with highs and lows but most of them being lows unfortunately, and that is probably why this is up again so late. But we did have some good moments so lets focus on them, we've had some lovely days with family and spending time with them, probably something we should do more often actually. We went to birthday parties, I swear the kids have a better social life than us! We've had some warmer weather finally so have had lots of evenings at the park, walks and I also started my walking up again which I am so happy about. Dry Kids Fleece Lined Dungarees

We was recently sent the fleece lined dungarees by Dry Kids, they are waterproof over trousers which are perfect for jumping in puddles, rainy days or just general exploring. Being where we live these type of trousers are a must for us, we are surrounded by beaches and countryside and these trousers suit both. They are £17.95 and come in 4 vibrant colours, pink, navy, turquoise and yellow which is what we picked, if anything is going to cheer up a dull rainy day then its the brightest yellow trousers! Not only do they come in lovely colours but you can also have the option of having them unlined or fleece lined, we got fleece lined ones which are perfect for our adventures. So over the weekend we decided to put them to the test...

Isla went exploring out on the sand banks, jumping and running in the shallow pools of water, picking up stones and sea weed and generally enjoying what she loves to do at the beach. I had no worries at all that she would get wet, cold or get her trousers underneath dirty. She seemed to enjoy having a lot more freedom instead of me telling her to ease off with the jumping in the water, as she doesn't like being cold at all, she takes after me!

How To Help Protect Your Child's Enamel

I cant say I have always been the best at brushing my teeth, I can remember from being a child just going straight to bed and not brushing my teeth. Even today I do still have nights when I'm so tired I just collapse on the bed without brushing my teeth or even taking my make up off! Now when it comes to my 2 children I am a lot stricter about it, and now I can see where my Mum was coming from when she use to tell me off (Sorry Mum) but she is right, you only get one set of teeth, and you should look after them. I want my children to get into the habit of brushing their teeth from a early age so they can look after their teeth when they are older. Recent research shows that 84% of acid wear is found in adults on a weekly basis at the dentist, this is just crazy but its not until you look at the certain foods and drinks that you realise how acidic they are, especially with children's enamel being 50% thinner than adults its a good idea to consider the effects your child's diet and eating habits can have on their oral health. 38% of 12 year olds and 44% of 15 year olds are showing signs of dental erosion on the surface of permanent incisors, and its not just the fizzy drinks causing this, some of the healthier options are also contributing to your acidic levels every day.

Here is a brief indication of the acidic levels in some of our daily foods and drinks.

High - Cola, Lemonade, Orange Squash, Apple Juice, Pineapple Juice, Strawberry Jam and Grapefruit.
Medium - Carrot Juice, Tomatoes, Honey, Tomato Ketchup, Seedless Raisins, Pears and Natural Yoghurt.
Low - Milk, Bananas, Cheese, Eggs, Water and Carrot Sticks.

I was quite shocked about some of these, although because they contain high levels of acid, it doesn't mean we need to avoid them completely. We just need to try and reduce how often we have them, and because I have recently started my new healthy lifestyle I'm glad that I can cut down on some of these, but of course on a occasion I will still drink cola etc.

Bubbles... There is something about them, they just seem to bring such joy and happiness to children, the look of excitement and wonder in their faces as they watch them fly in the sky and then when they pop they giggle even more. I have to say I really enjoyed blowing the bubbles, it become addictive and I found that I actually really enjoyed them too. It was also lovely watching them both so happy as well, I just didn't want to stop it was so much fun.

^ I really like this photo, just the look on his face as he is watching the bubbles flying in the sky.

The Start Of A Journey...

So now that Spring is here I am finally feeling motivated to get back into shape and be more healthy, I want to feel fit again and not feel sluggish all the time or out of breath after chasing the kids around to get them dressed. I want to feel happy in my body again and I want to feel good in the Summer when I'm wearing shorts or should I say it - a bikini. Ive never been one to worry about what the scales say, its all about how I feel when I look in the mirror, its so easy to wear baggy jumpers in the winter but with Summer approaching I need to start now. So I found a trail that I can get to and walk with the children - trying to go to the gym in the evening was becoming difficult so I've now made it work for during the day. I started using my single out n about pushchair with Isla walking but it soon was made clear it wasn't going to work, so I decided to get a double out n about and quickly avoided being defeated. I dug out my workout clothes from the back of the drawers, charged my fitbit up and off we went on our first walk.

I didn't to bad for my first walk, and by walk I mean speed walking and occasional jogging, I managed 3 miles in 47 minutes and that was with stopping every time Arch decided to drop his juice on the floor. I felt really good and because we all enjoyed it it made me want to do it again today, so this morning we got up and shortly after breakfast we was getting ready to leave, today I done 4 miles (well 3.99 but shh) in just over an hour. I didn't feel as great today, my legs hurt from yesterday and I now learnt that it really is important to stretch before you go out. But I still did it and I am so happy that I did, we was home just before 11 and then we still have the rest of the day together.

I'm hoping to do this at least 3 times a week, if I'm not busy then maybe even everyday Monday - Friday. The kids seem to really enjoy the walk too, they get fresh air, they get to see ducks, swans, geese, seagulls, boats, the occasional train and sometimes we can stop off to play in the park, stop for a picnic and even feed the ducks.

I'm not wanting to lose a load of weight, I just want to get my fitness level up, and tone what I have got. I cant lose to much weight as my wedding dress will then be way too big! I will share how much weight I have lost, I'm also going to measure certain areas of my body too and see what I am loosing that way as well, and I will share photos, just be nice ;) please.

Are you doing any fitness or have have any goals? Let me know if you are as id love to see what everyone else is doing.

My Wild Ones | 10

This week has seen a big change for us, since I decided to jump back into my fitness routine again. We have found a lovely trail near by and will now walk this almost daily. The kids seem to love the walk and enjoy looking out at the wildlife like ducks, swans, geese, seagulls, rabbits and squirrels. We also spot the occasional boat and train too which they both like to watch as it whooshes past us all, and if Isla waves enough they sometimes even sound their horn too which is exciting for her.

When I take a break I do let Isla get out and explore a little, we also discovered a park on the trail as well but you have to climb over a gate and run across the train track crossing, this is not doable on my own but when we are with friends or Perry we do go in. I love how much they enjoy the walk just as much as I do, and I love that every time we go it is a different experience, even though it is the same walk.
