A Beautiful Reminder

On the evening of Archie's 1st Birthday we was driving home from our day at Southend-On-Sea when we spotted a beautiful rainbow while we was driving down the motorway, it made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, as most of you know Archie is our rainbow baby and we conceived him 2 weeks after our miscarriage, of course I always think about that baby and if it was a boy or girl, and how special Archie feels for being our rainbow baby. So to see a beautiful rainbow on his Birthday just made me so happy, it felt like the baby we lost was saying Happy Birthday to him and showing that they are watching over us. It felt like a sign for Archie and it was such a beautiful way to end his 1st Birthday. By the time we was getting closer to home you could see the whole rainbow from one side to another, and in the middle was our house, seems silly but I did get some tears in my eyes and thought how lucky we was to have Archie. If you have a rainbow baby do you always think of them when you see a rainbow? I know I do...

Falling In Love All Over Again...

I always use to be adamant that I wouldn't go on holiday without the children, but after things getting the better of me the best option was for Perry and I to go on holiday together, just the two of us. You can read more about the holiday here, but I wanted to make a post about something quite amazing that happened while we was away. We haven't had any alone time together in ages, like proper alone time doing something, well I say ages but its been over a year. So this break was very well needed for each of us and also for us both as a couple together.

We held hands and went for walks along the beach as the sun was setting, we cuddled up to each other and watched the sunset whilst listening to the sea gently crashing into the stoney beach, we ran home from the supermarket in a thunderstorm absolutely giggling our heads off, we played pool and air hockey - nothing like a bit of healthy competition! We relaxed on the beach and held hands while laying in the sun, we drank cocktails together and got merry, we cuddled each other in the sea and just had so much fun. We was able to be the young couple that we are instead of just being Mum and Dad. I get it, I can see where things have gone a bit wrong, we have let the parenting roles take over a bit and we have forgot who we were together, we forgot to be ourselves and make time for one another. I cant tell you how much better we feel since having that holiday alone together, it has made our relationship so strong again and so much more fun. I was getting butterflies every time I see Perry walk towards me with a drink (obviously about him and not the cocktail ;)), and it made me realise how much the holiday was really needed. We have said now we are home we are going to make time to have proper alone time together, go out for a meal in the evening or just for the day over the weekend, maybe now and again have a night away alone together - just anything as long as its just me and him. So that we can be a couple and focus on our relationship just for a little while, no stress about the children and having to remember to pack the 100s of items you need to go out for the day, not having to deal with tantrums, not having to think for them, just 100% attention on one another. We realised how important it is for the children to see their Mummy and Daddy happy, as if we are happy and content we can be much better role models for them, we can parent them a lot better when we are working as a team, and since the holiday we have been getting on so much more, I am starting to already see a difference in the children. We kiss each other a lot more, give one another hugs and just generally show more compassion towards each other. I want both the children to see what a healthy happy relationship is like, and what better way to show them then to do it ourselves, I want them to admire our relationship in years to come, to look up to us and see how strong and happy in love we are.

Getaway To Greece

I have been in Greece the past week for a very last minute getaway, we booked it on the Sunday and flew out to Rhodes on the Wednesday! It was a very much needed break for me, this year has been tough and after some recent issues I was more than ready to getaway, to just switch off and relax. Ive been battling depression for a long time (I will be writing about this too) and it got the better of me, so my amazing partner Perry booked for me and him to go to Rhodes for a week on our own child free. I was very nervous, especially as I hadn't been away from Archie yet, the most he has been apart from me is probably 3-4 hours and that was only twice in a year, so you could say I was very unsure about it all but also so very excited to have some proper me time, and also for Perry and I to be alone together too. My parents kindly watched both the children for us for the week so I knew they was in safe hands and off we flew to Rhodes, it was the first time I had ever been to Greece too so I was pretty excited to see what it was like.

Our hotel was very small, but it was perfect just for a getaway for us both, we have said if we was ever to return we would obviously book somewhere better which would suit us and the children, but it was nice and we made the most of it. The weather wasn't too bad, it was around 26 degrees but we did have a 2 day thunder storm which sucked, but we didn't mind at all and explored or chilled out in our bedroom, mostly just catching up with sleep! The last 3 days the weather thankfully returned to being sunny and got quite hot towards the end as well which I loved.

Archie's 12 Month Update

Ah so we have reached the 1 year mark! Archie turned 1 last Monday and we had a brilliant day celebrating with him. He now weighs 24lb exactly which puts him in the 91st percentile for weight, and he is also 77cm which puts him in the 75th percentile for height. He has been in 12-18 month clothing for a few months now, long sleeve tops now need to be 18-24 months due to his chubby arms! His bottoms have only just been switched to 12-18 months and they are a little long on him at the moment. He has 4 teeth and his 5th has just cut on the top next to his big tooth, his hair is growing on top finally and seems to be going a light blonde in colour, his eyes are still a beautiful shade of blue, he is in size 5 nappies, his feet are a size 4G.

He can climb up on to furniture and knows how to correctly get down as well by turning on to his belly and putting his feet down first, he can crawl so so fast, he can stand unassisted and can bring himself slowly back down to the floor by himself. He took his first steps 3 nights ago (only 2.5 months later than his sister haha) but hasn't taken any more since, yet he can run around with his walker and he knows how to steer it to move around too. He knows where to put toys back and also puts his clothes back in his drawer and shuts the drawer all by himself! He is VERY vocal, he can say mumma, dada, baba, car, burger, yeah, hiya, look, and is constantly babbling. He is not shy at all unlike how his sister was, he is happy to go to anyone, he really loves being around people as well. He can nod to say no and yes which is super cute, and he knows them so if we say yeah he does the correct nod.

He can clap, wave and sometimes blows kisses. He loves pretend play, he will put plastic food to his mouth and make eating noises and moves his mouth. He also grabs a pretend wooden knife and tries to cut the play food and any other obstacle, he also like to use a spoon and stirs in a toy bowl. He loves bubbles, water, and generally likes playing and exploring everything. He is so confident and doesn't seem to have any fears - yikes. He loves playing with cars and can make the brrr noise while pushing them along, he loves his toot toot garage, he loves playing with the toy kitchen, and he loves cuddling his toys, he is so sweet and loving. If I lay his pillow pet on the floor he will go and lay on it, he also cuddles his big teddies that he has and roll around on the floor with them. He also likes playing with big sisters dolls and gives them kisses. He is very outgoing and loves swimming, he is a total water baby - he was crawling down to the sea at the weekend!

He is a funny little boy and loves to make everyone laugh, he is also very cheeky as well and such a pleasure to be around. Everywhere I go I always get comments on how sweet and funny he is, he also likes to flirt - a lot! We all love you Archie, keep being you my sweet beautiful boy.

Naturelly Jelly Juice Drinks & Giveaway

The kids have been trying out the Naturelly jelly juice drinks for the past week and they have definitely got a thumbs up from us, they come in pouches which are super handy for on the go as well as at home, and they make a perfect snack too! They currently have 3 flavours, Tropical Fruits, Summer Fruits and Apple & Blackcurrent, they are gelatine free, have added vitamins and no added sugars or sweeteners! The packaging does say 2+ but upon contacting the company I was told they are suitable for Archie (Age 1) and this is being removed off the packaging.

Both kids absolutely loved them, they are better served chilled so I keep ours in the door of the fridge, the kids have loved them in the recent warm weather to help cool them down, and its nice as I know they are healthy with only 7g of natural occurring fruit sugars and no added nasties, it is school approved as well, so perfect for a after school snack. Being a jelly consistency they don't spill either which is great for the younger children.

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse 1st Birthday Party

On Sunday we hosted a party at our house to celebrate Archie's 1st Birthday with family and friends, we decided to go for a Mickey Mouse theme as Archie really likes him and loved meeting him in Disneyland. We went down the black, red and yellow route to help keep costs down as parties can be expensive! Especially all of the branded Disney supplies, I found 10 Mickey cups for £5 but managed to get 50 plain red cups for the same price, I just simply stuck on two white circle stickers to make the cups looks like Mickey Mouses shorts with the buttons.

This was the main feature of the party, we stuck balloons at the top of the wall and had streamers coming down, all of it was bought cheaply off of eBay. I made the banner myself after being shocked at the prices on Etsy, I bought coloured card and got to work, I was also able to make a lot more things using the card and it worked out 1/4 of the price to make it all instead of buying the one banner online. I bought 50 plain red plastic cups, a red table cover and Mickey Mouse plates from eBay. I then bought plain red napkins and plastic forks from Asda as well as plain red plates, I just alternated the pile of plates to keep it even between Mickey Mouse and plain red.

I put some red, black and yellow balloons on either end of the curtain pole to add more decoration to the room. Im really happy with how good they looked, they just added more colour to the room.

What Archie Wore - Birthday Edition | 3

So this week was quite a special what Archie Wore, as he turned one on Monday 2nd May, so of course I had to show off his birthday outfit. I was planning on doing his outfit from his party but naughty Mummy never got any photos!

1st Birthday Outfit

Top - Blueberry Boo Kids | Leggings - Tobias and the Bear | Shoes - Clarks

I was having a hard time deciding if this should of been his party outfit, but as we will be travelling I thought this outfit would be more comfortable for him to wear. As he still crawls I also didn't want him to ruin the leggings already when he would be crawling around and playing in the garden too. I originally wanted different leggings but left it to late to order them, I have been eyeing up these Fox leggings for so long but held off so he can get a lot more wear out of them now he's older and growing seems to have slowed up a bit. The top is size 1-2 so it is pretty big at the moment but he has a whole year to wear it now.

Happy 1st Birthday Archie

I can't believe you are One, time has gone so so fast this past year. It only feels like yesterday that I had the most amazing birth with you, you was born in the pool and everything was just perfect. Watching you grow this past year has been amazing, and I am so honoured to be your Mummy, you are the most cheekiest, happiest and the most loving little boy that I know. From this little newborn you have grown into such a beautiful little boy, you are so clever and so funny, you love making us all laugh and when we do, your smile and giggle lights up the room.

I love that your a Mummy's boy, you love cuddles and snuggling up to me, in general you just love snuggling even on blankets on the floor, it's so sweet. You are so loving, and I can't wait to watch you grow even more, I'm still in shock a whole year has gone by that you've been here. I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have, I've loved every second of watching you grow, watching your milestones, teaching you to clap, your first words etc.

I'm sorry that I haven't got to have much alone time with you and that my attention is divided, that you've had to cry a little more than I had liked. I'm sorry you haven't had as much as your sister did, but I can promise you we love you so much, and that love is the same. Things have been different with you, instead of looking forward to the next milestone and wishing it would hurry up, I've been the opposite in wishing time would slow down, this time I've enjoyed just sitting watching you learn and embracing everything new that you do, and helping you learn.
